We all know that there are 2 important components of the successful projects, which are: PRODUCT and TEAM. If you have only one of them, you should urgently deal with the other one. They do not compensate each other and cannot be interchanged. If you have both, you have more chances. Now, there is something that is still missing here. You developed a great product (testing the product is another story, we won’t speak about it here), you got devoted team, now what? How are you planning to proceed?

And here comes MARKETING and SALES. When you got an idea of your product, have you thought about finding the clients? Where? How? Most startups just think that clients simply come, until they launch their product… and see that there are no clients waiting for them.

So, Marketing will help you, and the earlier you start, the more chances your startup has.

Now, let me give some ideas about aspects which you can start with in marketing. 

Number one: define the client. Who is it the person that you see as your client? Or maybe it is not a person, but a company? Describe the client, think about as many details as possible (but do not exaggerate).

Number two: think about positioning. Positioning is how your client sees your product (or service). For example, you are producing high-quality thermos bags based on a new technology. They are stylish, practical and expensive. So, you might want your client to see the product as a luxurious one, so that if he takes your bag, it contributes to his status.

Number three: now, how to reach those people, where to find them? Yes, I mean channels. Online vs. offline. I will concentrate more on online here - easier and much cheaper for most startups.

This is a very generic list, you can always go deeper and find dozens and even hundreds of useful instruments inside those major areas of Marketing.
